Within the framework of this festival, the orchestrated composition entitled Canto General was also performed, performed by the Greek Mikis Theodorakis and based on the poems Canto General by the Chilean Pablo Neruda , [ 2 ] being published a small record on the album Vorwärts, nicht vergessen solidarität! from 1985.

A total of 86 groups and soloists from 29 countries participated in the festival, which were heard by 60,000 people. The organization was in the hands of 400 young people. During the festival, the appearance of María Farantoúri stood out , who sang a song with her fellow countryman Mikis Theodorakis . [ 2 ]

About the festival that would give rise to this album, a 10-minute documentary was made in German called "Der Augenzeuge 10/1980", directed collectively by several people and produced by "DEFA-Studio". [ 2 ]
