500 Viviendas is a neighborhood of the Spanish city of Almería ( Andalusia ) located southeast of the city around the southern part of Avenida del Mediterráneo and bordering the neighborhoods of Cortijo Grande to the east, Tagarete to the north, Zapillo to the west and Garden City to the south.

History

In 1967, the National Housing Institute ordered the construction of a neighborhood of 500 social housing for families with limited resources. Francisco Franco , on his official visit to Almería in 1968, handed over this neighborhood, under the name of "Barriada Caudillo Franco." At the opening ceremony, Franco handed over the deeds to their future owners. [ citation required ]
