69 Names is a rock group formed in the city of Barranquilla , Colombia , and currently based in Bogotá .


The group was formed in the city of Barranquilla at the end of the 90s , at a time when numerous rock bands appeared in their region. In its beginnings its sound was a bit marked by grunge , but later its sound varied, taking The Beatles as its main influence . [ 1 ] The quality of their proposal allowed them to perform in Bogotá at the 2000 edition of the Rock al Parque festival . [ 2 ]

Since that year, the group has settled in the city of Bogotá . In 2002 they recorded Alba , their first album, which was presented the following year, achieving wide diffusion on the radio. Their recognition allowed them to alternate in the presentation that the Mexican groups Molotov and Café Tacvba made that year in Colombia . [ 3 ]

After a hiatus, the band rearmed at the end of 2008. From the hand of the Englishman Phil Vinall , who has been a producer for Placebo , Radiohead and Zoé , 69 Names recorded new songs which were edited on the EP Tiempo , presented at the 2009 edition of Rock al Parque . [ 1 ]

For 2011 the band has reorganized with a tour that has included the prestigious South By South West festival in Austin , Texas . [ 4 ]
