The 1st Amateur League Southwest 1972/73 was the 26th season of the 1st Amateur League and the 21st season after the merging of the seasons Rheinhessen , Vorderpfalz and Westpfalz . As in the previous year, the championship was won by SG Eintracht Kreuznach , which this time also successfully competed and was able to advance to the Regionalliga Südwest . The clubs FV Dudenhofen and FSV Schifferstadt relegated to the 2nd amateur league. The amateurs of FK Pirmasens and SV Horchheim had come into the league as promoters. The teams took seventh and eighth place respectively.

VfR Frankenthal , relegated from the Regionalliga Südwest in 1972 , finished fourth.
