The A-319 is an Andalusian regional road , belonging to the inter- regional road network of the Junta de Andalucía . It joins the towns of Peal de Becerro ( Jaén ) ( A-315 ) and Hornos de Segura ( Jaén ) ( A-317 ).
The road runs in a southwest-northeast direction, and is the central axis of the southern area of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas natural park . Pass through the following locations:
- Peal de Becerro .
- Cazorla .
- La Iruela .
- Cold Stream .
- Coto Ríos .
- Solana de Padilla .
- Cañada Morales .
- Guadabraz .
- El Majal .
- El Tovar .
It begins at a roundabout at kilometer 22 of the A-315 regional road , and bypasses Peal de Becerro to the north in the direction of Cazorla . Throughout this section, the road has separate lanes for each direction and shoulders, a circumstance that disappears when reaching Cazorla to become a mountain road.
The road crosses Cazorla from the lower part to the upper part. In the Plaza de la Constitución (or de la Tejera) the road makes a 180º turn during which the two directions of traffic follow the same path.
Just after Cazorla La Iruela appears . After passing the town of Burunchel there is the access control to the natural park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas ; This control, like the rest of the existing ones in the park, is nowadays in disuse.
The road rises to Puerto de las Palomas at 1240 meters above sea level, from where it descends towards the so-called junction of the Valley (which gives access to other areas of the park ) and later towards the Guadalquivir river .
It continues along the course of the Guadalquivir river, over which it crosses a couple of occasions. It passes through Arroyo Frío , the Torre del Vinagre interpretation center and the town of Coto Ríos .
Later, the Tranco de Beas Reservoir appears , which runs along the entire left bank. Then it crosses over its dam, at which point there is a traffic light that remains closed for 2.25 minutes in each direction to regulate traffic over the dam. After passing through the town of El Tranco , it continues bordering the reservoir on the right bank until it joins the A-317 regional road at kilometer 23, just below the town of Hornos .
