A Hundred Days ( Hundred Days ) is the seventeenth episode of the third season of the television series of science fiction Stargate SG-1 , and the first chapter sextuagésimo the entire series.

Plot

SG-1 visits a planet called Edora to see its annual meteor shower. However, they discover a problem. Apparently every year the meteor shower has intensified. Carter discovers that the planet spends every hundred years inside an asteroid belt. When this happens the rain goes from being a spectacle to a catastrophe. The team tries to evacuate the people from Edora before the latest meteor shower begins. During the evacuation of the last group, O'Neill and several Edorans are trapped on the planet when a meteor hits the Stargate.. Due to this, the evacuated Edorans will not be able, for now, to return to their world. Over the next few weeks in Edora, O'Neill helps the surviving villagers rebuild their homes. On earth, meanwhile, SG-1 discovers that the Edora Portal has survived, though it is buried in a layer of molten naquadah that covers it like Earth's Iris . Since the Tolanos say that one of their ships will take at least a year to reach Edora, Carter decides to build a beam of subatomic particles, (like the one previously used by Sokar) to use against the naquadah cloak.. During this time in Edora, O'Neill has developed a loving relationship with Laira, the leader of the village they helped rescue. After several days trying to unearth the Portal, Jack is realizing that he may be trapped in Edora forever. After 3 months. O'Neill has become an important part of the new community. On the other hand, Carter has finished the construction of the atomizer beam, which is soon used to pierce the molten naquadah. By opening the portal, the "Kawoosh" creates a small cavity. Because it is horizontal, Teal'c will tie to the ceiling of the cavity and dig to the surface, maintaining radial contact with the SGC.. At those times, Laira tells O'Neill that there is a transmission from her radio. Jack quickly locates the portal site, and digs to get Teal'c out. Once the Stargate has been unearthed, O'Neill is faced with a choice between staying in Edora with the woman he loves, or returning home to his old life. He ultimately chooses to return to Earth, while the Edorans trapped in the SGC , in turn, return home as well.
