The May Revolution - A Revolução de Maio

A Revolução de Maio ("The May Revolution") is a Portuguese propaganda production directed by António Lopes Ribeiro premiered in 1937. The title refers to May 28, 1926, the date of the military coup that established the so-called State Novo . [ 1 ] It is a propaganda feature film, with anti-communist motives, which was intended to convey an idyllic image of said Estado Novo regime. [ 2 ] Produced by the National Propaganda Secretariat (SPN) of the Salazar regime, the script was written by António Lopes Ribeiro and by António Ferro, [ 2 ] director of the SPN.
