To its plants rendered a lion

A lion surrendered to its plants is a novel by the Argentine writer Osvaldo Soriano . As the author explains in the introductory note, the title is a verse (from the old version ) of the Argentine National Anthem . Although that letter refers to Spain , surrendered to the independence struggles, in this novel the lion that must surrender is the United Kingdom , the victor in the Falklands War , against which a socialist revolution will break out in the country of Bongwutsi.

Argument

The Malvinas War begins ( 1982 ) and, in Bongwutsi, a remote African country, Faustino Bertoldi, a forgotten Argentine diplomat, fights his own battle against England .

At the same time, in Europe , a conspiracy is born to turn Bongwutsi into a Socialist Republic . Another Argentine participates in it, and both compatriots, together with unforgettable revolutionaries, will come together in a delirious and moving plot.
