Anibal Julio Asseff (born in Moreno, Province of Buenos Aires, on August 11, 1966) is an Argentine lawyer and politician. He is currently a Provincial Senator for the First Electoral Section of Buenos Aires and an alternate member of the Council of the Magistracy of the Province of Buenos Aires.
Anibal is the grandson of María Aon and Escandar José Asseff, who arrived in Moreno at the end of the 19th century from the City of Yezzín, in the mountains of Lebanon.
His father, Julio Antonio, was a public accountant, industrialist and was a member of the Christian religious movement "Catholic Action" where he met Marta Pérez, his wife. Anibal is the fourth of the five children of the marriage, his brothers are Patricio, Alejandro, Claudia and Amílcar. His father was municipal commissioner on the end of the National Reorganization Process. [ 1 ]
He began his political career as pro-legislative secretary of the Ucede-PDP Block in the Chamber of Deputies, between 1987 and 1991. Later, when Julio was elected Mayor of Moreno, Anibal continued to accompany him as Secretary General of the Municipality. He was a member of the Cívico Independiente, Nueva Fuerza and Ucede parties. For many years he always combined his activities with community work within the Mariano Moreno Club and Library of which he was President between 1970 and '72. His father Julio Asseff 1991-1995 for the Neighborhood Union was Municipal Mayor of Moreno and in 1980 to 1983; Councilor between 1985 and '87 and Provincial Deputy from 1987 to 1991. He constituted the Unión Vecinos de Moreno (UVM) and the Moreno Communal Group. [ citation required ]
In the legislative elections of 1997, he was elected Councilor of the Moreno Party by the ACM (Moreno Communal Group). During the period 1997-2001, he was the 1st Vice President of the Honorable Deliberative Council and member of the Security, Legal Affairs, Finance and Budget and Transit Commissions.
Then he was Advisor to Deputy Osvaldo Fernández in 2003 and in 2005 he was again elected Councilor in Moreno by PRO.
Become one of Mauricio Macri's referents in the province of Buenos Aires, Anibal Asseff was one of the operators of the alliance developed between Francisco de Narváez, Felipe Solá and the Head of Government of Buenos Aires in the First Electoral Section, he joined in second place the list of candidates for provincial legislators in 2009. A leader of the movement, he was elected Senator for the period 2009-2013.
Honorable Chamber of Senators of the Province of Buenos Aires
Anibal is a member of the Unión PRO Peronista bloc in the Upper Provincial Chamber. He is the 3rd Vice President of the Honorable Chamber of Senators.
Between 2009 and 2011 he was a member of the Commissions for Municipal Affairs, Decentralization and Institutional Strengthening, Ecology, Environment and Human Development, Constitutional Affairs and Agreements, Real Equality of Treatment and Opportunities, Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. And from 2011 to 2013, he integrates the Commissions for Labor and Social Legislation, Ecology, Environment and Human Development, Users and Consumers, Political Reform and State Reform, Constitutional Affairs and Municipal Agreements and Affairs, Decentralization and Institutional Strengthening.
In addition, Anibal is an alternate member of the Buenos Aires Magistracy Council. This body was created by the reform of the provincial Constitution in 1994, whose primary function is to advocate for the rights of citizens.
He is also the Vice President of the Special Commission that investigates the performance of the police and the judiciary in the case for the crime of the minor Candela Rodríguez that occurred in 2011.
