ANCLA began operating in 1976 at the initiative of Walsh, who summoned Carlos Aznárez , Lila Pastoriza and Lucila Pagliai to start the project. [ 1 ] With very precarious material and human resources, the small group of journalists and militants from Montoneros undertook the task of challenging military censorship and repression between June 1976 and September 1977 , reporting in real time, with a sober and sober tone. direct, the genocide that was perpetrated at that time in the country through more than 200 cables. [ 2 ]
The agency reported on the concentration camps, the appearance of corpses in lakes and wastelands (it even outlines about the death flights , although it attributes them not to planes but to Navy ships), the internal divisions within the Board, the economic policy, persecution, threats, exiles and the impact of all this abroad.
Many of its members, including its founder, paid for their opposition to the totalitarian regime with their kidnapping, torture and disappearance. After the murder of Walsh in March 1977 , the kidnapping of Pastoriza and the exile of Aznárez and Pagliani, the direction of the agency remained in the hands of Horacio Verbitsky and Luis Guagnini (who disappeared in December). [ 2 ]
The first book about this agency was published by Verbitsky on September 2, 1985: Rodolfo Walsh and the clandestine press , by Ediciones de la Urraca, owner of the magazine Humor , where Verbitsky wrote. It reproduces the cables, the Open Letter from a writer to the Military Junta and the first denunciation on the crimes of the ESMA, written by HV.
Also the scholar Natalia Vinelli published her ANCLA essay . An experience of clandestine communication directed by Rodolfo Walsh . Editorial La Rosa Blindada (2002). [ 3 ]
