Biography

Andrés Bilbao Sentís Tarragona , ( 1949 - 2002 ) was a professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology of the Complutense University of Madrid since the establishment of the sociological discipline at the beginning of the 70s.

He was familiar with classical culture, to which he devoted much of his work to authors such as Comte, Smith, Simmel, Weber, Mandeville, Bilbao was the promoter of economic sociology in Spain, both in teaching and in his works published in specialized academic journals, in their books and in research.

Since the sociology degree was established in Spain in the 1960s, he was practicing as a sociologist , he was a faithful follower of Marx , as well as other illustrious thinkers, for example Aristotle, who encouraged him to study society.

He was a respected sociologist in his field and in others, so much so that on the day of his death, El País launched a special edition and a multitude of magazines paid tribute to one of the people who fought for and for human sociology and made multiple empirical investigations.

He was a Doctor of Political Science and Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid .
