Andrés García Ferreiro [nickname: O Gavilán ], La Coruña, September 17, 1894- Punta Herminia ( La Coruña ), March 15 , 1937 ) was a lawyer and Spanish municipal secretary , victim of the repression of the Francoist side in the War Civil . [ 1 ] [ 2 ]

Son of Julio García Gabilán, a native of Valladolid (practicing notary in Carballo, La Coruña) and Esclavitud Ferreiro Natural Lake of Mondoñedo. I study Law at the University of Santiago de Compostela. A lawyer by profession and a native of La Coruña, a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, he was elected President of the Socialist Group of Vivero on April 24, 1931. A member of the Masonry, he belonged to the Barcelonan lodge Humanidad Nº3 and the Fraternidad Humana de Vivero. He practiced as a lawyer in La Coruña and Lugo. He obtained a position as Municipal Secretary in the municipalities of Manzaneda, Quintela de Leirado, Vivero and Ortigueira. And from the town hall of Vimianzo in 1936 , months before the coup d'état that gave rise to the Civil War.. He moved to Vimianzo where he took office on March 28 , relieving the previous head accused of embezzlement. Considered a liberal and tolerant man, when the military uprising took place, together with the mayor of the town, Manuel Alborés , he tried to prevent the neighbors from facing the coup leaders in Zas . When taking the coup troops in the town, he was arrested and imprisoned. Tried in court martial on 24 of February 1937, he exercised his own defense once sentenced to death for military rebellion, asked the court for clemency, which did not respond to his request. He was shot on March 15, 1937, leaving a widow and three small children. At the request of his grandson Andrés García Pascual, in 2010 the Ministry of Justice drew up an act of "Declaration of reparation and personal recognition" for having been unjustly convicted. The Council of Vimianzo paid tribute to him in July 2011 and the Galician historian, Luis Lamela García , recorded his career in "Chronicle of a repression on the 'Costa da Morte'".
