Andrés Santa María Gonzáles was director of the National Choir of Peru between the years 1988-2008, currently he is a singing teacher at the National Conservatory of Music (Peru) and director of the Tacna Youth Symphony Orchestra 2016

Biography

He was born in Tacna , Peru . He began his musical studies at the National Conservatory of Music (CNM) as an oboist . Then he studied singing , choral conducting, harmony , counterpoint, and musical analysis . In 1976 he received a scholarship from the Hungarian government to study at the Béla Bartók Conservatory and later at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest . He then studied at the Academy of Music in Basel in the Opera of Basel withWerner Nitzer , and with René Jacobs (at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis ), Dennis Hall and Montserrat Figueras . He specialized in singing in Milan and Bern , then led the Children's Choir of the Basel Opera.

In Lima , since 1988 he has been a professor of singing and choral conducting at the National Conservatory of Music (Peru) . In that year he also assumed the direction of the National Choir of Peru . He has also performed as a tenor in concerts, oratorios and operas , and has conducted an orchestra, including the National Symphony Orchestra , of which he was its artistic director for a brief period between July and August 2006 .

As Director of the National Choir of Peru, he collaborated annually in the Lyrical Seasons of Opera and Zarzuela of the Proliric Association of Peru , Friends of the Opera Association , and Romanza Cultural Association , in numerous Operas, Zarzuelas and choral symphonic Oratorios, by various authors of classicism and the contemporary.
