Andrea Wanka - Andrea Wanka

Andrea Wanka (born Scheele; born April 4, 1981 [1] ) is a German special education teacher . [2] She is considered an expert in the field of deafblind / hearing impaired education and took over the first professorship for this subject at the Heidelberg University of Education in the 2018 winter semester . [3] Her research is particularly focused on Usher and CHARGE syndromes . [4]

Career

Andrea Wanka studied from 2001 first at the PH Schwäbisch Gmünd , then at the PH Heidelberg teaching at special schools specializing in education for the blind and deaf and the extension course in special educational early intervention. [5] In 2006 she completed an extension course in special needs early intervention with special needs education for the deaf and the blind. [1] Her dissertation for which they have a long-term study conducted on children with CHARGE syndrome, it presented there 2,011th [6]

Since 2012, she has been working for the St. Franziskus Heiligenbronn Foundation as a representative for deafblindness and hearing impairment . [7] In 2015, she received at the Congress of the Deafblind World Association for their work the Young Professional Leadership Award for the promotion of young scientists. [8] At the University of Birmingham , she taught deafblindness from 2009 to 2014, in particular training concepts in Germany. [9]

When the first professorship for deafblind / hearing impaired pedagogy was established in Heidelberg, she was appointed professor to develop it.

Wanka is a member and Board member in several associations and organizations that deal with deafblindness deal, including the 2011 state working group founded deafblind Baden-Wuerttemberg [10] and since 2012, the World Association Deafblind International [11] [12] .
