Life and work
After graduating from high school, Andreas Goldstein, son of Klaus Gysi, trained as a typesetter ,  to study cultural and theater studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin until 1991 and then to study directing at the Film Academy and to join television "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam-Babelsberg. In 1999 he was a master student at the Akademie der Künste Berlin , produced his first cinematic work as an assistant director and as an employee of Peter Voigt and as a "freelance producer" for Next Film ( Laurens Straub). Together with Susanne Binninger, he founded the Oktoberfilm GbR in 2008. In 1999 he shot the documentary " The Explanation of the First Chapter Luce ", and in 2006 the short film "Detectives". In 2018 his feature film “ Adam and Evelyn ” and in 2019 his documentary “ The Functionary ”, which deals with his father Klaus Gysi , were released in the cinemas. He produced several films for ZDF and 3sat . The documentary film “ Reine Männersache ” was awarded the Grimme Prize . In addition to his work as a producer and director, he is the author of film theory and film critical texts.
Films by Andreas Goldstein were nominated for the Golden Lion for Best Short Film, Best Short Film - Special Mention, UIP Award for Best European Short Film.
