Bizarro Records is a Uruguayan record company created in 2000.

History

The label was created in 2000 with the edition of the album Buitres 10 años , which marked the anniversary of this important Uruguayan rock band. The label went from publishing 5 or 6 discs per year in the first period, to exceeding 15 discs per year in 2003 and 2004. This earned it the Pegaso award given by AGADU , for becoming the most important producer of discs from the country. [ 1 ] Among the artists produced by this label were musicians as important as No Te Va Gustar , Cuarteto de Nos , Sordromo , Cursi , Laura Canoura and Jorge Nasser, among others, at the same time that he also edited groups that were beginning their artistic careers such as Vinyl , La Teja Pride , La Saga , Loopez and Astroboy . [ 1 ]

At the end of 2003, he signed an agreement with the company EMI , by which Bizarro managed the CD edition of the phonograms included in the important catalog of the historic Orfeo label . [ 1 ] Finally, in 2007 Bizarro made the definitive acquisition of said catalog. [ 2 ] For these reasons, Bizarro has managed to reissue albums that remained unreleased in compact disc format , by artists such as Alfredo Zitarrosa , Los Olimareños , La Trampa and Los Tontos , among others. Its director is Andrés Sanabria.
