Enrique Sierra Egea ( Madrid , 29 July as as 1957 - 17 as February as 2012 ) [ 1 ] was a guitarist, composer and Spanish producer. Co-founder of Kaka de Luxe and the mythical group Radio Futura and protagonist of the Movida Madrileña , he was co-author, among others, of the theme School of heat .

Musical biography

In 1977, at the age of nineteen, he formed Kaka de Luxe together with Olvido Gara "Alaska", Fernando Márquez " El Zurdo ", Manolo Campoamor, Carlos Berlanga and Nacho Canut . Enrique Sierra, who came from " Vibraciones ", consolidated with Olvido Gara as the band's guitarist. Kaka de Luxe released her first and only self- titled EP in 1978.

The band achieved some popularity through Disco Express magazine . Kaka de Luxe's contribution to modern Spanish rock took shape in the spread of punk , a musical movement of British origin unknown at that time in Spain. Its introduction in Spain as an "underground" movement would be one of the bases of what is known as Movida Madrileña .

In 1978, after Kaka de Luxe dissolved, Sierra founded Radio Futura together with the brothers Santiago and Luis Auserón , Herminio Molero and Javier Pérez Grueso . Radio Futura became one of the most popular and influential bands in Spain between the eighties and early nineties. Enrique Sierra provided the punk aesthetic characteristic of the group's beginnings, which, throughout its evolution until 1992, would merge with Latin rock .

After the dissolution of Radio Futura in 1992, Enrique Sierra released in 1995 his first solo album, Mentiras , recorded in London with British musicians such as Dire Straits percussionist Danny Cummings , and produced together with Joe Dworniak (Radio Futura, Jarabe de Palo ). As Enrique Sierra y los Ventiladores he toured throughout Spain. Together with Pilar Román and Luis Auserón, former Radio Futura, he founded Klub in 1997, mixing rock and electronic music .

He won two Latin Grammy Awards as a sound engineer, both for successive work on Rosario Flores albums : the first in 2002, on the album Many Flowers , and the second in 2004 for Mil Colores .

He died on February 17, 2012 in Madrid, at the San Carlos Clinical Hospital in Madrid due to a long kidney disease. [ 2 ]
