The 412P was the customer version of the 330P4 . These customer cars, which were used by the North American Racing Team , Scuderia Filipinetti and Maranello Concessionaires , differed from the works car in two essential details. While the 330P4 already had a five-speed gearbox developed by Ferrari, the old, very fragile ZF gearbox was still used in the 412P. The gearbox got an additional oil cooler, but it was also a frequent cause of failure in 1967. The V12 engine made with PS 410 40 PS less than the aggregate in the unit carriage.
Pedro Rodríguez and Jean Guichet completed Ferrari's triple victory in the 1967 24-hour race at Daytona with third place in the North American Racing Team's 412P. At the 1000 km race at Spa-Francorchamps in 1967 , a 412P, driven by Lucien Bianchi and Richard Attwood , also placed third in the overall standings behind the Mirage M1 by Jacky Ickx / Dick Thompson and the Porsche 910 by Hans Herrmann / Joseph Siffert .
