The FLNC of October 22 (FLNC-22O) is a split from the National Liberation Front of Corsica . Born 22 of October of 2002 , it is rival of the FLNC-UC and condemned his truce the 14 of November of 2003 and the union of the different nationalist groups on the eve of the territorial elections in March 2004 .
Since 2000 , the FLNC of October 22 enjoyed a certain dynamic compared to others, in particular the FLNC-UC , which is said to be close to Charles Pieri (at the time incarcerated). It has never decreed a truce on the attacks and has been hostile to the "outstretched hand" policy towards traditional Corsican elected officials and the policy of union with the autonomists. The maintenance of a hard line on the part of the FLNC-22O assured him a certain advantage with the partisans of the "radicalization against the state". But since the end of this decade, the organization gradually lost influence.
In 2006 , three of its members were accidentally killed during attacks such as those of Alexandre Vincenti (during a failed attack in Aix-en-Provence in January), and of Antoine Schinto and Stéphane Amati (in August, during a failed attack on a court in Upper Corsica ). [ 1 ] Then, between 2007 and 2008, the organization was seriously affected by numerous arrests, as well as by the alleged departure of some of its activists towards a new clandestine branch that was created then, the "FLNC 1976". [ 2 ] [ 3 ]
It has not claimed any more attacks since this period, and has only appeared occasionally through press releases (in 2010, during territorial elections , [ 4 ] puis in 2013, à l'occasion d'une visite ministérielle). [ 5 ] On May 2, 2016, the FLNC was discussed again on October 22 during a press conference, announcing an unlimited truce (but not demilitarization, unlike FLNC-Union des Combattants ) in response to the latest elections of the Assembly of Corsica , to give him "the possibility of calmly managing this mandate."
Fight against radical Islamism
In a press release published on July 28, 2016, the FLNC-22O also takes a position on the issue of Islamist terrorism linked to the Islamic State . He questions the ability of the French state to protect Corsica and claims to have thwarted an attack on Corsican soil. FLNC-22O sends a warning to radical Islamists and promises them a "determined response." [ 6 ]
