Flochberg is a district of the Baden-Württemberg city of Bopfingen . The place is in the valley of the Eger , on the edge of the Nördlinger Ries , below the castle ruins of Flochberg . In addition to the village of Flochberg, the hamlets of Dorfen and Härtsfeldhausen and the Heidmühle house belong to the former municipality of Flochberg .
Flochberg was first mentioned in a document as Vlochperch between 1138 and 1152. Flochberg became part of Bavaria in 1806. In 1810 it was incorporated into Württemberg. Flochberg has been a district of Bopfingen since January 1, 1970.
The pilgrimage church of the Visitation of Mary ( Our Lady of the Rye Field ) in Flochberg was built from 1741 to 1746 in the Baroque style instead of a chapel. The builder was Johann Ulrich Trientl from Vienna. The multiple appearances of the Mother of God Maria and the miraculous healing of the young Wilhelm Winzerer are said to have founded the pilgrimage in 1582.
