Florentino Castañeda y Muñoz ( Laujar de Andarax , September 3, 1905 - Almería , November 18, 1995). [ 1 ] Historian and writer from Almería, author of more than forty books, among which are the History of the very noble and very old town of Laujar de Andarax and Villaespesa: the best verses of the best poet .
In 1922 he emigrated with his family to Madrid where he went through various occupations as an employee of a haberdashery or an antique store. Finally, he approves competitions to the Local Administration and becomes president of the College of Secretaries, Controllers and Depositaries of Madrid. He obtained the title of commercial professor and, in 1980, he returned to Almería, where he would reside until his death. He rests in the municipal cemetery of Laujar de Andarax with his wife.
Recognitions and awards
In 1943 he was honored by all his colleagues from the Local Administration Colleges in Spain. In his literary facet he obtains numerous recognitions: The Grand Cross of Knight of the Order of Cisneros (1950), The Golden Crest of Laujar (1984), The Golden Shield of Almería (1985), Honorary Member of the Costa Rican Circle of Poets Friends of Villaespesa (1973), Prize of the House of Almería in Barcelona, Golden Grape of the Regional House of Almería in Madrid. He was appointed Academician of the Royal Academy of History (1993), of the Hispanoamericana de Heredia in Costa Rica (1973), of the Sciences, Fine Letters and Noble Arts of Córdoba (1983).
