Folias - Folias

Folias was a Spanish dance performed by a single person, which was generally accompanied by castanets .

The music was simple, harmonious and devoid of dissonances, in a ternary measure , for which reason even the least exercised ears liked it. It consisted of two parts of eight bars each, which were repeated with variations. An infinity of them have been composed on their motif for all kinds of instruments in which their difficulties developed little by little.

To this day, the folias are no longer in use either as music or as a dance.
