Jörg Dewald (2018)

Jörg Dewald (born July 18, 1966 in Rödermark - Urberach ) is a singer , lyricist / songwriter and music producer. His pseudonym JD Wood or JD Wood is derived from his real name. JD Wood has lived in Nidda since the end of 2016 and has his recording studio there.

Biography

He learned to play the piano at the age of five , but was also strongly attracted to drums . At the age of ten he received trumpet lessons . After completing an apprenticeship as a power plant electronics technician and completing his military service in 1990, he aspired to work as a musician and music producer. [1]

He started as a music producer in 1991. From 1991 to 1996 JD Wood had his studio, the Sound Everest Studio [2] in Pfungstadt , and worked from 1993 to 1996 as an engineer for Men Behind [3] - together with Karsten Brandt alias Todd Canard and Peter Aleksander (now Superstar Recordings ) - on many publications. JD Wood also worked for Microbots between 1991 and 1994 together with Thomas Wedel alias Tom Wax and Thorsten Adler. [4]

Among the artists for whom he wrote, produced, arranged and remixed are e.g. B. Vanessa-Mae , Melanie Thornton , Kim Sanders , Jam & Spoon , Erasure , Ralph Siegel , Magic Affair and Talla 2XLC . [5]

In 1994, JD Wood received the gold record with Men Behind for the remix of When Do I Get to Sing My Way from the Sparks .

From 1998 to 2002 JD Wood worked on productions in the team of Cyborg DMP GmbH [6] , which among other things produced three successful Eurodance acts from the 1990s: Captain Hollywood Project , Intermission and Loft . For the violinist Vanessa-Mae , JD Wood composed the title I Still Can Hear Your Voice in 2002 , which he also sang and presented on ARD at Arena der Stars in the same year . [7] [8]

Since then, JD Wood has written many of his own songs. A label in the USA discovered this in 2008 and then released JD Wood's debut album in March 2009 with the title In My Dreams in the USA and Canada and was awarded the “Best songwriter of the year 2008” award in Chicago (Blue Muse Publishing, Inc.). [9]

He brought his music to the stage with his solo project JD Wood and Band . He appeared in German clubs, including as support for Paul Carrack ( Mike & the Mechanics ) in the Colos-Saal Aschaffenburg . [10]

In 2010, JD Wood was selected as the voice for the Artists for Freedom song Going Home . [11]

To celebrate Mario Adorf 's 80th birthday , Jörg Dewald produced, on behalf of Adorf's manager Michael Stark, the version You are from head to toe of the Friedrich Hollaender song , sung by Iris Berben , Udo Lindenberg and Klaus Meine . [12] [13]

The joint song with the American songwriter Tammy Beal, God Can You Spare a Moment , made it to the semi-finals of the UK Songwriting Contest 2010, reached 2nd place (Runner up) in the "International Songwriting Competition 2010" [14] and made it to the finals of the "Song of the Year 2011 Contest ". [15] Tammy Beal and JD Wood dedicated this title to the Children's Hospice Bethel Project . [16]

JD Wood's title Like Wild Horses made it to the finals of the UK Songwriting Contest 2011 in the categories "Singer / Songwriter" and "Country". [17] In 2012 the Austrian junior covered “Like Wild Horses” and thus rose to the TOP 40 in the Austria Charts. [18] In January 2011, the title Free by Thomas Petersen feat. JD Wood released. He got into the German Dance - charts at number 25 and can be found on compilations. [19]

In 2011, JD Wood wrote, composed and produced for the American Idol candidate Marvin Cybulski, who made it to number 9 on the casting show, the titles It's you and I'm still there and for the pop singer Andrea Hoffmann the titles A Minute with You and The One . [20] [21] [22]

The second solo album by JD Wood, entitled World of Emotions , was released on June 15, 2012. With this he was ranked number 1 of the “Amazon bestseller MP3 albums” [23] and number 1 of the “Amazon bestsellers in pop”. [24] On December 7, 2012, JD Wood released the Christmas single X-Mas . This includes the title The Greatest Christmasgift of All and its version of the song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas .

In March 2013 JD Woods released his third album World of Emotions - Part II . The single from this, I Hear Your Voice , entered the Official European Top 100 Charts and stayed there for five weeks. [25]

2015 sang JD Wood die World-Club-Dome-Hymne Mynoorey – Million Lights (Le Shuuk Remix) – World Club Dome Anthem.[26][27]

JD Wood works as a music producer of orders such as laser shows, radio - and YouTube trailers are as well as CD - intros for z. B. Big City Beats releases and their release tours ( World Club Dome ).

In 2019, JD Wood sang his own song While The Last Song Plays at the closing ceremony of the three-day World Club Dome Space Edition in front of around 60,000 spectators in the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt. [28] At the end of February 2020, JD Wood recorded the song Du flasht mich from Supertalent 2012 participant David Petras in the studio, mixed and mastered it. The YouTube video premiere of the title took place on June 30, 2020. [29]

As a live musician and singer, JD Wood has been a member of the cover band Hot Stuff - Music of the 70s, 80s and More for over 20 years. [30] Other live bands in which he functions as keyboard player and singer are ABBA Explosion [31] , Soulfood Superjam [32] and the Ina Morgan Band.

In August 2020 Jörg Dewald recorded the “Corona song” Welt ohne Lieder together with numerous singers from the Hanau district . It is intended to draw attention to the situation in the event industry as well as the self-employed and cultural workers in the corona pandemic . A joint music video was shot in the amphitheater in Hanau. [33] On September 17, 2020, the song and video was released. [34] [35]
