Kilometer - Kilómetro

The kilometer (also written kilometer , although in disuse) [ 1 ] is a unit of length . It is the third multiple of the meter , equivalent to 1000 meters. [ 2 ]

Its symbol, km , does not accept plural nor does it have an end point —except when it is found as the last element of a phrase or sentence— because it is not an abbreviation . It is also emphasized that the symbol of the prefix kilo - must always be written with the round, lowercase letter k (that is, not in italics). [ 3 ]
