Notes from the director Miguel Perelló
"What the other has" caught me from the moment it fell into my hands. It's a story that deals with courage, truth, love, jealousy, desires… how, location and number of characters, it wasn't going to be easy. Few stories can identify us in this story, where numerous and different protagonists live diverse but interrelated situations, forming the structure of The characters shape the plot of the narrative and the cities, Valencia (east of Spain) and Caracas, are make them a landmark with a life of their own.
What is "what the other has"? I would like to point out the double interpretation of the title. On the one hand, what the other has is often an object of desire or envy; other times it coincides with our interests or is even precisely what we love the most about that other. On the other hand, since we are concerned. The economic and social problems that Venezuela is going through have motivated many people to emigrate looking for work and a better economic situation abroad, especially in the European Union and in the United States. Venezuela, a country of immigrants, who received in life that this preparation that they enjoyed a status there, when they arrive in Spain they can only access jobs, no The reverse case is already experienced by Spaniards when in the forties and coinciding with the arrival of the Franco regime in our country, There were many who decided to march to Venezuela in search of freedom. With "What the other has" we intend to give a vision of this situation from other perspectives.
