Michael Alpert (1936) is a British military historian and Hispanicist , author of various studies on the Spanish Civil War and the Second Republic .

Biography

Born in 1936, [ 1 ] he is Professor Emeritus at the University of Westminster . [ 2 ] [ 3 ]

He has written works such as A New International History of the Spanish Civil War (St Martin's Press, 1994), [ 4 ] The People 's Army of the Republic , [ 5 ] [ 6 ] Civil War at Sea , [ 6 ] [ 7 ] military reform Azana (Siglo XXI, 1982) [ 6 ] [ 8 ] or Crypto-Judaism and the Spanish Inquisition (Palgrave, 2001), [ 9 ][ 10 ] among others.

Azaña's military reform became a reference text for the study of the republican leader and the reform undertaken by him in the Spanish Army during the first biennium of the Second Spanish Republic . [ 11 ]
