Political - Político

The G20 , a periodic meeting of senior political officials to discuss global economic issues.

A politician is a person who engages in political activities . There are several meanings of the term:

  1. In the first place, it refers to people linked to the public administration ; A politician is considered to be any person affiliated with a political party and who has been elected or appointed for tasks associated with public bodies, associations or institutions .
  2. Second, a politician can refer to any person affiliated with an association or group that develops partisan activity, regardless of whether or not they hold any public office .
  3. In non-democratic countries or countries with representation problems, some people carry out political activities outside the administration, sometimes becoming political prisoners .

In most countries the legal system considers elected or appointed politicians as representatives of the people in the maintenance, management, and administration of public resources . Said ordinance considers that a politician must ensure the general interest of citizens and maintain a professional ethic of service to the people and not to himself. The corruption , the demagogy , the sectarianism and incompetence are evils that affect a greater or lesser extent to the political class in most countries.

It is a formally recognized and active member of a government , or a person who influences the way a society is governed, through knowledge about social dynamics and the exercise of power . This includes people who hold positions with decision-making power in the government, and those who seek to obtain such positions, through elections or by appointment or appointment, or through a revolution , coup, or electoral fraud .

Policies

Politicians , that is, women engaged in political activities , represent a lower percentage worldwide than politicians. In world terms, women in unicameral parliaments constitute 22.6% and, in bicameral parliaments, 22.9% in the Chamber of Deputies and 21.3% in the Senate. [ 1 ] To correct this inequality, international and state organizations have adopted measures to develop the right to parity. [ 2 ]

Spain

In Spain, it is estimated that there are around 75,000 politicians [ 3 ] out of the polls, as opposed to a false report [ 4 ] from the Presidency of the Government, released by the newspaper El Aguijón, which stated that there were around 450 000 politicians. [ 5 ]

Pedro Calvo Asensio (1821-1863), deputy, journalist, writer and doctor of pharmacy, was one of the most influential Spanish politicians of the 19th century. We see his image on a National Lottery ticket.

Electoral parity

In Spain, Organic Law 5/1985, of June 19, on the General Electoral Regime, defines parity as a balanced composition of women and men in the field of political representation. This balanced composition is guaranteed in the electoral lists that are presented in the elections to Congress, local elections, Island Councils, Canary Island Councils, European Parliament and Legislative Assemblies of the Autonomous Communities. Types of politicians

Weber points out that a politician is a person who aspires to power; to power as a means to achieve other ends or to power itself, to enjoy the feeling of prestige that is conferred.

There are two ways of making politics a profession: you live from politics (the person seeks an end or economic level), or you live for politics, you make your life out of it in an intimate sense; or he simply enjoys exercising the power he possesses, or he nurtures his balance and tranquility with the awareness of having given meaning to his life by putting it at the service of "something."

The three qualities of a politician are:

  • Passion (service or vocation towards something).
  • Sense of responsibility.
  • Measure (ability to let reality act on you without losing your recollection and tranquility). [ 9 ]

Swiss

In Switzerland , there are militia politicians , that is, politicians who do not make a living from politics. All parliamentarians , deputies and senators continue to carry out their work; the only exception are the seven national and cantonal ministers , who are full-time and receive a salary.
