Information about the song
VOS (Original version with subtitles), is the shortest song that La Oreja de Van Gogh has composed , lasting only a scarce 2:20 (however, the demo included in More beautiful lasts much longer) that is reminiscent of the typical Spanish cantinera song .
VOS, perhaps, follow the style line of A ten centimeters from you more , without having dark tints like Night , Rag Doll or Irreversible . Amaia's voice stands out, molded to the peculiar rhythm of the song.
VOS talks about a girl who has broken a relationship a long time ago, but despite everything she has not been able to forget her old love; He even still suffers for him, but he prefers to mature and make time heal everything (as the song indicates) and that he no longer feels anything. She claims that if her former love meets her again, pretend she doesn't notice anything, like she can't see that she's actually still suffering.
VOS In another more subliminal context, he talks about a drug addiction that he cannot overcome but appears to be fine (I'll pretend that the tempo cured everything), specifically he refers to inhalants (like a gas invades a labyrinth), glass (resting my head on the glass) and cocaine (I draw a tic-tac-toe that I tie again) also when it refers to the phrase (if we ever cross paths) it refers to drug intoxication. He exposes not being able to overcome the addiction to drugs since without these his life no longer has meaning (without you the sound and color lose meaning) he accepts the addiction (I do not remove the vice of waiting for you at home),
Like many songs on the Guapa album , VOS never became a single. This was shocking at first, since Van Gogh's La Oreja had shown with his previous albums that he always put out an average of seven singles. But Guapa and Más Guapa together included four, ( Rag doll , Sweet madness , Lost and On my side of the couch ). Perhaps the cause was that Amaia Montero was about to leave the group, something that was also noticed on the Guapa Tour , where you could see a group somewhat "spent".
Lasting 2:24 minutes, it is believed to be the true VOS demo - in part because it strays too far from the final work. However, it is actually the mockup of Meet One Year Less. This is appreciated when comparing the letters of both, having completely the same ideas. An example are the verses "Why I want my hands, if your touch I lost it" by Calamarismo, and "Why do I want my hands, if they don't touch you" -To serve one year less-. Contains the VOS chorus, showing how with something "old and forgotten", you can create something with great meaning and genius. It is sung by Xabi San Martín .
But it could be that "'Calamarismo"' is the first version of "'VOS"' and the model of To Meet One Year Less, and if so, the version included in Más Guapa would be the second version of VOS
